Erik just discovered that he can insert the card of the camera into his computer, so now I can post some more pictures.
Yesterday afternoon Erik popped into the head of the provincial water department on the street, and he told Erik that he knows the head of the provincial health department. He also said that “if she is a really good midwife” the paperwork should not be a problem. Funny how connections are important all over the world. Only, how are they gonna know that I am a “really good midwife”? Anyway, I might help to be officially registered if I want to do some projects in that area, which I would very much like to do.
Later on we will go to the water department again to get some signatures for Erik’s work and will be able to meet the director personally.
And then in the afternoon we will hit the road and hopefully make it to Nicane :-). So I will use the WIFI of the hotel, which amazingly is working yesterday and today the whole day long (before, we only had internet for a few hours from about midnight).
And now about the pictures:
The first three are made at the National Museum of Ethnology in Nampula, which we visited on Sunday. But don’t imagine a huge thing. It’s more like a funny small collection exposed with little information in a way we would do in a small “the tradition of our own village” museum. Anyway it is worth it. The guard can tell lots of extra information (if you speak Portuguese) and part of the collection is from a ethnographic excursion one or two years ago in the northern reagion of Mozambique in several remote Makonde villages. That’s where I took the pictures.
The forth picture is especially for the Brazilian readers of the blog: The Chinese even start copying Tramontina cutlery, and as usual they don’t get the writing good.
And finally there are two pictures of the landscape here. It reminds me of Brazil, the area around Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. When I arrived with the plane, it looked like some giant had dropped his toys in the flat landscape.
And now, I have to pack the bags and get ready for the next part of the adventure.

Dat je foto's bovenaan kunt plaatsen is gaaf he?
Ik blijf nog maar even bij Jetdewereldreiziger... alsof ik ook nog een stoere reiziger ben.
Maar eigenlijk ben ik deze week net weer begonnen met werken. Eigenlijk best oké, maar het reizen voelt toch nog meer als het échte leven :-) .

Hoi Anna en Erik, Fijn om jullie op de foto's te zien! Hebben we al meteen een indruk van jullie nieuwe woonplaats. Die ene foto doet inderdaad denken aan Brazilië. Hebben jullie al de beschikking over een auto of wordt het een motorfiets? Ligt het meegebrachte vloerkleed al op de betonnen vloer en hoe ziet jullie huis er uit? Ben benieuwd of het lukt voor Anna om een baan te bemachtigen. We horen wel. Hier alles goed in Boxmeer. Marko is weer beter en weer aan het werk. Straks komt Marianne eten want het is Zaterdag. Phil heeft de hele ochtend op het tennispark gewerkt en ik heb me nuttig gemaakt met huishoudelijk werk!!! Veel groeten van Phil en Ineke
